ANA CUESTA
Ana is a Franco-Spanish feminist activist and lawyer specializing in European and international labor law.
Since January 1, 2025, Ana Cuesta has served as President of Choisir la cause des femmes, an association founded by Simone de Beauvoir and Gisèle Halimi with the mission of advancing women's rights.
From the summer of 2022 to the end of 2023, Choisir activists traveled to meet with feminist activists from all over Europe. This trip contributed to the collective development of the book #BestofEUforwomen, an ambitious European comparative study on the best legislative practices for women within the European Union.
Ana will also present their latest book, "Letters for Illegal Abortion", at the conference. These letters come from the archives of "Choisir la cause des femmes." They are exceptional historical testimonies and paint a social and human portrait of those punished for abortion in France in the 1970s, taking us back to the origins of our struggles.
